FusionOptics Technology, a feature of Leica Microsystems' stereo microscopes, combines high resolution and depth of field to provide a superior 3D perception of samples. This technology overcomes the limitations of conventional stereo microscopy by using the human brain's ability to merge two separate beam paths, one for depth of field and the other for high resolution, into a single, optimal 3D image. Users are able to perceive images with up to three times larger depth of field compared to conventional stereo microscopes, reducing the need to refocus and saving time. The resulting image also has a higher resolution, which is beneficial for various applications including industrial inspection, life-science specimen screening, and neurosurgery. Leica's implementation of FusionOptics in a stereo microscope provides 3D images with a large zoom range and high resolution, offering significant advantages in fields such as electronics, automotive, aerospace, and medical device industries.
