Natural killer (NK) cells are part of the innate immune system that mediates responses against viruses, parasites, bacteria, and tumor cells while also contributing to the adaptive immune response by linking innate and adaptive immunity.
Here, we describe the multicolor flow cytometry analysis necessary to study NK cell phenotype and the function of isolated NK cells from whole blood. Discover what that study reveals about how NK cells mediate adequate protection, distinguishing between normal and tumor or virus infected cells.
