Difco TC Yeastolate Ultra-Filtered (TCY UF) In Scale-Up Optimization

In this case study, a biopharmaceutical company sought to optimize their CHO cell culture system to improve titer yield while ensuring scalability in bioreactors. The goal was to exceed the baseline titer performance established with a chemically defined medium. To address this challenge, the company partnered with Gibco™ PD-Express Services and implemented Difco™ TC Yeastolate ultra-filtered (TCY UF) into their medium and feed strategies. By adjusting feed concentrations and timing, they achieved over 100% improvement in titer yields compared to their traditional feed designs.

The optimized feed strategy demonstrated up to a 70% increase in titer when feeding 3 g/L of Difco TCY UF on day 5, with results successfully replicated at the bench-scale bioreactor level. This case study highlights the effectiveness of integrating high-performance peptones like Difco TCY UF in achieving significant productivity gains in cell culture optimization.
