Vial Containment Systems For Gene Therapies: Materials Considerations
By Margaret A. Craig, Manager, Scientific Communications, Rui Li, Ph.D., Senior Scientist, R&D, Cryobiology, and T. Page McAndrew, Ph.D., Director, Scientific Communications

Storage of a vial containment system at ultra-low temperature (approx. -80°C) presents risk not encountered at ambient temperature. This results mainly from use of components with different coefficients of thermal expansion and breakage. Material advantages of Daikyo Crystal Zenith® cyclic olefin polymer vials are presented along with discussion of risks from over-filling and improper assembly.
