Cell therapy is rapidly emerging as a transformative treatment modality, offering the potential to address diseases that remain difficult or impossible to treat with traditional approaches. By introducing living, functional cells into the body, these therapies can replace, repair, or enhance biological activity at a fundamental level. While early clinical successes—particularly in oncology—have validated their promise, widespread adoption has been limited by the complexity, cost, and scalability challenges of autologous approaches, as well as immune rejection risks in allogeneic settings. Recent advances in genome engineering are reshaping this landscape. Strategies focused on immune evasion are enabling transplanted cells to persist and function without triggering damaging immune responses or requiring long-term immunosuppression.

At the same time, innovations in cell sourcing and manufacturing are making off-the-shelf therapies increasingly feasible. Together, these developments are positioning allogeneic cell therapy as a new frontier in medicine, with the potential for broad, durable, and accessible therapeutic impact.
