Parkinson's Disease: Asia Pacific Clinical Trial Landscape

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most prevalent age-related neurodegenerative disorder, affecting approximately 3% of the population by the age of 65 and up to 5% of those over the age of 85. (1) It is characterized by nonmotor symptoms like dementia, depression, visual hallucinations, and autonomic dysfunction, in addition to movement abnormalities. Men have a greater incidence rate of PD than women globally, especially in elderly populations. The male:female ratios for Asian PD incidence vary from 1.0 to 1.2, which is lower than the global average (0.7–2.4). (2)
