Culture Biosciences' cloud bioreactors offer a comprehensive approach to cell culture process tracking by focusing on mass balance calculations. Unlike traditional volumetric measurements, mass-based measurements provide a more accurate and detailed understanding of cell line performance and product fluxes. The bioreactors can accurately track and report every input and output for each cell culture process, including factors like O2 delivery, initial process mass, manual additions, and vessel evaporation. This data can be used to calculate mass-based metrics reflecting the true performance of a cell line in a production process. The study also highlights the importance of accounting for evaporation and the use of peristaltic pumps for fluid delivery. Customers can visualize a live mass estimate during a run, and access mass balance data at the end of each run through Culture's data analysis tool, Console. This data, combined with additional analytical measurements, can provide insight into cell line and process optimization opportunities.
