A View On Exosomes (S01 E08)

Source: Lonza

Uwe Gottschalk, Chief Scientific Officer of Lonza, argues the exosome revolution is already well underway. As researchers identify how these cell-generated, nano-sized delivery vehicles function in the human body, drug delivery prospects are emerging in cancer, neurodegenerative disease and spinal cord injury recovery. Gottschalk also sees diagnostics as perhaps the more exciting near-term development: a blood-based liquid biopsy that could detect cancer or other diseases more easily and more promptly than a traditional biopsy. Open questions remain, including the ongoing work of defining manufacturing protocols and processes for this new biotechnology. Listen to Gottschalk's perspective on exosome research and application in this episode of "A View On."
