A Versatile And Reliable Basal Medium For MSC Expansion: PRIME-XV MSC Basal XSFM With Human Platelet Lysate

Scaling MSC manufacturing without sacrificing cell quality remains one of the harder problems in cell therapy development. Classical media like alpha-MEM paired with human platelet lysate can support growth, but the ceiling on expansion is low relative to what clinical-scale production demands. An MSC-specific serum- and xeno-free basal medium, optimized specifically for hPL supplementation, changes that calculus materially.

Data across bone marrow, adipose, and umbilical cord-derived MSCs show up to 16-fold greater expansion compared to alpha-MEM with hPL, with phenotypic markers, trilineage differentiation capacity, and viability all preserved through multiple passages.
